Profit in the Healthcare industry is around 4%. Thats $40 profit per $1000 premium, that doesnt solve the cost problem. The CBO stated the deficit would be reduced, and the reasons are 1) taxes were being increased 2) Medicare would lose $500 billion in funding. 3) taxes are going up now, and benefits will not be paid until 3 years from now. !0 years revenue to pay 7 years benefits, a 1 time trick. (fooled you though). The bill costs money.
No, the cost would have been greatly reduced due to the fact that a government system would be non-profit and able to negotiate prices more effectively. The CBO agreed that the house health bill would reduce the budget deficit by billions. Fiscally, this is the responsible thing to do.
